Inconvenient Truth About Live Earth (BUMPED)

I love the fact that a number of rockers are questioning the integrity of Al Gwhore's Live Earth concerts. They include the hottest new group in the UK, who really hit the nail on the head.

Rock group Arctic Monkeys have become the latest music industry stars to question whether the performers taking part in Live Earth on Saturday are suitable climate change activists.

"It's a bit patronising for us 21 year olds to try to start to change the world," said Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders, explaining why the group is not on the bill at any of Al Gore's charity concerts.

"Especially when we're using enough power for 10 houses just for (stage) lighting. It'd be a bit hypocritical," he told AFP in an interview before a concert in Paris.

Bass player Nick O'Malley chimes in: "And we're always jetting off on aeroplanes!"

I wonder -- how will those rockers (and much of the audience) get to the venues of Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hamburg, London, Johannesburg and New York? I suspect via environmentally unfriendly aircraft!

Perhaps Al Gwhore will be there selling carbon offsets indulgences to those hypocrites who actually have a conscience. I've even got a song for him to sing as he tries to scam people into believing that a cash donation will make up for their environmental sins.

"Another penny in the coffer rings,
Excess carbon to heaven springs!"

Maybe that little ditty will inspire some latter-day Luthers (and some witty entrepreneurs) to upset the so-called consensus of the cult of global warming.

1.) What will be the true source of the power that will power all the lighting, the amplifiers and speakers, the concessions stands? Will it be massive arrays of solar cells?, Hydrogen fusion cells?, Wind Turbines? Ethanol Bio-Fueled generators?

2.) If the latter, who (which company / manufacturer) will supply them and what model No. engine / generators will be used?

3.) Will the food (for the concessions) be cooked on wood fires? Or perhaps they will use dried out cow & horse manure pellets for fuel?

4.) Will they re-use “used toilet paper” in the restrooms (in following what a “Green” labeled performing artist has recently suggested in the media.

5.) How will the performers arrive at the concert areas as well as their Jacuzzi-equipped hotels? Will it be the normal gas-guzzling plush stretch limousines or will they opt for hybrid or Electric vehicles? Maybe they will go all out and pedal a bicycle?

6.) Will the concert tickets & concert programs be printed on the most biodegradable paper available?

7.) Where will all the proceeds as well as all of the financial pledge donations that you and LIVE EARTH are soliciting be distributed to / earmarked for?

Unless, of course, it is only the little people who are expected to be green.

Comments on Inconvenient Truth About Live Earth (BUMPED)

Hi! This is from the Thomas. M. who you included my questions for Al Gore. Thanks, I appreciate it. By the way, I am a U.S. born American living in Texas (born in Massachusetts. I agree wholeheartedly with your comments in your blog. I sent my coments to several conservative TV & Radio journalists. Michelle Malkin was kind enough to deliver and we all owe her a debt of gratitude for taking this subject on. Keep on Blogging and help curbing the B.S. factor.
Regards. Tom

I do agree with some of the things you said about this event is hypocritic, using lots of power and energy and performers traveling in their jets to different countries for this so called "green" event. However, I think rather then only bashing on their effort, what do you propose they do to spread their words and message globally?

And I don't quite understand your use of the term "consensus of the cult of global warming". Do you mean that you don't believe that global warming is real or just lots of people are being blind followers?

And some of your questions seems too extreme as in they almost sound like you are just looking for an argument and not discussion to find a solution.

Like 3 and 4, I think their whole message is to conserve what you can, not to live like we are in the stone age and give up hygiene all together.

For question 5, I'm sure they would if there are hybrid limos. There are already electric car that was on the market but was taken out. They were only on lease, and for some odd reason they took them back from the leaser and just destroyed them. I can see the possibility the car company did that due to low demand or too costly to make. But Everyone would love to have one now, yet they are pushing for hybrid instead? Why? Supply and demand states when there are high demand, competition to fill this demand will also rise. When applied to technology, it would only push forward for better technology which translate to lower cost for production. Let say another reason is that the electric car has no power and low torque and has to be recharged. But one thing for sure, electric power can be produce w/o harming the environment and as any new technology, again, it would only get better with higher demand from the public.

The only thing is, there are still plenty of gas readily available for us to use, why waste this resource, right? Come on, if the oil company can make the same kind of money they are making right now, this second, some would jump right over to electric. But they need to spend time to develop the technology and giving up an already open gold mine is just too hard to do. So money is definitely involove. But how much is gonna cost our future? Believe that it won't be the oil company who pays to get things fix, it'll be you and I. (if it can be fixed at all)

6.) I thought that was a great question!!

7.) Another great question, but I can also ask about many of our tax dollar and also the promises the current administration made about the war...we are talking about accountability, right? But often times, they're unchecked.

And ..."Unless, of course, it is only the little people who are expected to be green." The only person we can truly change is yourself. In the matter such as this, environment, Keeping yourself accountable is better than not at all.
If we all have the mentality of, "shit, he's not doing it, why should I. Fuck it", then there's nothing else to say I guess, we should just all give up.

I like your quote, but a dream will only be a dream if no action is taken towards creating it.
