One part of any academic career is writing papers and essays. Writing is an essential part of the process of obtaining a degree in higher education, for it demonstrates one’s mastery of the subject and ability to communicate that knowledge to others. And while it is critical that all work that a student turns in is that student’s own work, there are ways that to make it easier – for example, by working with a custom writing company. I’m not talking about plagiarism, which is a form of dishonesty that I completely oppose and unconditionally denounce. I’m talking about the use of things like a dissertation template or professional help editing essay for high stakes work like a thesis or dissertation on the graduate level. After all, every professional writer has editors, and there is nothing unethical about the practice at all. Indeed, it is essential.
I am, on the other hand, less comfortable with those who will produce a paper for a student – after all, even if the term papers are plagiarism-free, doesn't submitting them as one's own work constitute an act of plagiarism? Yes, I realize that an individual might commission and pay for such a paper – but does that really make it their work in the sense that they are demonstrating their mastery of the subject at hand? I know how I would handle such a situation in my classroom – and how I have in the past.
The key thing is, in the end, intellectual and academic honesty on the student’s part. To use such services as a tool to assist one’s growth as a writer, and to polish one’s writing is perfectly acceptable. Academic fraud, on the other hand, is not.
