The Illogic Of The Obamabots

mccainpalinbutton[1].jpg

Let's see if I get the logic of the Obama supporters.

Obama has no executive, foreign policy, or national security credentials -- but he's ready to lead from day one.

Palin has executive experience, including being head of her states National Guard and leading the only state that borders on TWO foreign countries (Canada and Russia) -- but she shouldn't be VP because of a lack of experience in case of John McCain's hypothetical demise.

Am I the only one who sees a logical disconnect there?

Wait, Russia?
Russia is separated from Alaska by miles of ice and water. I think that, to share a border, the land masses have to be touching. Otherwise, Florida and Cuba would qualify.

And IMO, McCain should have taken Dole, if he wanted a woman. That would have taken the coal out of their fire on the 'experience' front.

Normally I would agree with you -- except that we are dealing with the Bering Strait and the Aleutian Islands, which are a part of the state of Alaska. The close proximity of Alaska and Russia in these areas makes interaction between them rather common -- and given the international boundaries, does constitute a border.

Not sure how much interaction goes on between the Aleutians and the tip of Siberia, and I hesitate to qualify that as experience.

Maybe I'm grousing too much; McCain wasn't my first pick either, and Palin doesn't have nearly the sort of chops McCain has. I'm sort of let down, with all the other candidates McCain has at his disposal. I expected someone who could meet his level of national experience.

That is hilarious, RWR. Don't forget, because Delaware borders on the Atlantic, Biden has years and years of foreign policy experience with all the countries that touch the Atlantic, right?

And Illinois touches Lake Michigan, which touches Canada, and then flows into the St. Lawrence Seaway, which eventually gets to the Atlantic, so, yeah, Obama gets credit for that, plus his time in Hawaii gives him credit for all the Pacific nations, so we win!

Face it - the McCain campaign surrendered on Friday.

Lot's of commerce there, folks -- especially as regards those fishing fleets. Also some law enforcement issues and international travel issues.

And Dan, if the Atlantic were only 17 miles across -- and if Biden were a governor rather than a Senator -- I might concede your point. But the Atlantic is a rather different kettle of fish from what they face up there in Alaska with the Bering Strait. I'd suggest you examine a map before making such asinine comments in the future.
