A Most Outrageous Charge

Richard Cohen argues that there has been some swiftboating going on since Sarah Palin was picked by John McCain.

Only she isn't the victim -- Barack Obama is.

What Obama does not understand is that he is being Swift-boated. The term does not apply to a mere smear. It is bolder, more outrageous than that. It means going straight at your opponent's strength and maligning it.

Yep -- questioning whether being a community organizer is really experience we can believe in is swiftboating -- because that constitutes the strength of Obama's candidacy. I don't know about you, but that looks like a concession as to how weak a candidate Barack Obama really is.

But somehow Cohen can't find it in him to comment on the scores of false attacks against Sarah Palin and her family.

It is almost as if he lives in an alternate reality.

But then again, he does -- the rarified air of the MSM enclave.

Comments on A Most Outrageous Charge

Being "Swift Boated", at least in my opinion, would seem to mean that truths which are detrimental to the public's perception of a candidate are being brought to the surface. Those with a problem with honesty have much to fear while those who are honest can sit back and withstand smear jobs based on lies or distortions. The John Kerry types have to paint those who bring truth to the playing field as sinister agents of darkness and so Swift Boaters are bad; what's the scripture about calling evil good and good evil?

What I love about this post is that there's no longer any pretense about the fact that the oh-so-honorable "Swiftboaters" were malicious liars. A lifelong Republican, I supported McCain in 2000, and I still believe he should have been president. But he was really the first swiftboating victim. The Bush campaign henchmen destroyed him with lies and convinced me that the Republican party no longer stands for the values I hold dear as a follower of Jesus, a believer in the constitution, and a devoted stay-home mome. (And excuse me, but if lipstick is the only difference between your mom and a pit bull, you have a really, really crappy mom.) McCain was robbed by his own party, and now he's too old. He's 72, had cancer four times, and there's no way under God's Heaven I would ever want my country in the hands of that horrible, ignorant, underqualified woman. Like it or not, if you truly believe in family values, God, and the constitution, you must set aside your knee-jerk racism and vote for Obama. He is going to bring change and integrity back to the White House after eight years of Republican ruin.

Actually, "Mom", you are wrong -- the only ones pretending are those who say the claims of the Swift Vets are the Democrats -- these fellow veterans who served with John Kerry stand by their statements.

Vote for Obama? You must be joking! Why on earth would someone who fears the Lord vote for a guy who worshiped in Wright's church for decades and supports infanticide? That you make such a call leads me to suspect that you are neither a Christian nor a Republican.
