He makes a very Republican point on immigration here.
In a rare public policy speech, former President George W. Bush said Tuesday that immigrants both help the American economy and “invigorate our soul.”“America is a nation of immigrants. Immigrants helped build the country we became, and immigrants can help build a dynamic tomorrow. Not only do immigrants help build our economy, they invigorate our soul,” Bush said.
* * * “I hope we keep in mind the contribution of immigrants to the building of our nation,” Bush said.
“Immigrants come with new skills and new ideas,” he added. “They fill a key gap in our labor market, they work hard for the chance for a better life.”
I don’t disagree with the former president – but the problem we face is that there are too many people who come here in violation of our nation’s laws. Until we deal with the illegal border crossing problem and the reality that we have millions of illegal aliens in this country, will it be possible to provide the sort of welcome to immigrants that we historically have shown to newcomers to our country?

This is insane. If 20 million illegal are made into citizens they would each be able to bring in unlimited numbers of relatives. Our immigration both legal and illegal is out of control and we are seriously thinking of making this batch of criminals legal! We have 18 million people out of work and we are going to make 20 million illegal immigrants legal! This is crazy and Bush is crazy to propose it. I believe the reason that Republicans are willing to sell out citizens in favor of non-citizens is the belief that it will help them get reelected. "W" is doing this as a favor for Jeb who wants to be president. This is NOT a favor for the citizens who will have to pay higher taxces for schools, welfare medical care, prisons, not to mention illegals kill 3000 people in our country every year. I will vote against any Republican that goes along with amnesty or anything that smells like amnesty. I will intentionally vote for their Democrat competitor in hopes that they win and the Rino loses. I would much rather that Democrats stab me in the back then Republicans. If they continue to put non-citizens ahead of citizens then they deserve to lose. I encourage everyone in the Republican base to do the same. They take our vote for granted and they create policies that harm us just so they can be reelected.
