In the Heller decision, the majority made precisely the point you raise in the graphic - that the 2nd Amendment applies to modern weapons just as the 1st Amendment applies to modern forms of communications, etc. And indeed, the language Scalia used to describe the argument that the 2nd Amendment only protected 18th century weapons was "bordering on frivolous." I suspect he was speaking with restraint.
