Somehow, despite the fact that the black vote went over 90% Democrat (as usual) and despite the fact that Republicans supposedly hate black people, we melanin deficient Republicans voted in these three individuals.
Now I’ll note that Tim Scott had the advantage of having been previously appointed to the Senate by Gov. Nikki Haley – but prior to holding that seat he was the congressman from an overwhelmingly White, Overwhelmingly Republican congressional seat. Love was elected in Utah, in a district where there are relatively few minority voters. Hurd was elected in a district that is traditionally Hispanic.
So what is it they have in common? They hold positions on the issues that are in keeping with the Republican platform. As a result, Republican voters are willing to vote for them. Their race was a secondary thing for GOP voters, not the primary focus like the color of Barack Obama’s skin has been for Democrats since he burst onto the stage.
